Urban Community Garden Program
The GOFO urban community garden strives to provide an educational opportunity for members to learn about growing organic produce. Under the advice of ecological master gardeners, members learn through hands on the ins and outs of organic vegetable gardening and enjoy the benefits of taking produce home weekly. The program does not offer formal instruction on organic gardening. Members are encouraged to attend a monthly meeting with master gardeners for Q&A session and participate in social pot luck dinners. Members must also join the garden yahoo group for regular communication.
The garden is located in the North Main neighborhood. It has 12 raised beds, compost site, drip irrigation and a tool shed. The membership is limited to 15 family/members. Only members and their immediate family are allowed to work in the garden and receive shares of organic produce. Members must commit to work exchange weekly as garden keepers or assistant coordinator.
Membership fee is $150 (six month membership). Each membership is per household and expires on the last day of June and December. Interested members may reserve membership spot for future availability by submitting the information below.
