Grow Healthy Kids
The Grow Healthy Kids school garden program is an initiative to improve children’s poor eating habits, to correct the chronic problem of childhood obesity and diabetes and to encourage children to protect the environment and being good stewards of the Earth. The primary motivation behind this project is to introduce kids to natural and sustainable agriculture and influence them on healthier lifestyle choices. One such choice is eating foods grown organically. These foods enhance the health of the individual and the world we live in because they are grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified seeds.
Urban Community Garden Program
The GOFO urban community garden strives to provide an educational opportunity for members to learn about growing organic produce. Under the advice of ecological master gardeners, members learn through hands on the ins and outs of organic vegetable gardening and enjoy the benefits of taking produce home weekly. The program does not offer formal instruction on organic gardening. Members are encouraged to attend a monthly meeting with master gardeners for Q&A session and participate in social pot luck dinners. Members must also join the garden yahoo group for regular communication.
Flicks For Thought
Flicks for Thought film series aims to increase awareness of environmental and food related critical issues and to present sustainable solutions to the community.

The Greenville Organic Foods Organization (GOFO) is offering a cooking series every Wednesday during the month of June. Kids Picture Book
Healthy Planet
Authored by Viviane Trama and Jessica Bennett, is a series of picture books addressed to children 6 to 9 years of age. The purpose of these books is to introduce kids to the principles of good health. The enlightening and dream-like stories encourage readers to adopt better eating habits, an exercise lifestyle, and to take care of the environment. The three main characters – Pling, Ria and Zeke are imaginary friends from planet Xylon who develop friendships with kids on earth.
